My cousin in Ontario is equally frustrated. Non stop clouds and flurries for the past few weeks with only a few days of sunshine. Has only amounted to 25cm.

When Nito quoted just that sentence I knew you were talking about a certain someone on the AF, no other context needed. And I was correct.
It's called clown range for a reason.

ECs gone crazy with the Abby forecast

https://weather.gc.ca/en/location/index ... 6,-122.321

I think EC is doing that whole "use GEM and ignore GFS/Euro" thing, and in this instance the GEM is almost certainly playing catch-up to the other two. I have noticed the GEM do this before too. GFS/Euro sniff out possible arctic air, GEM doesn't see it at first, then when it does see it GFS/Euro have already figured out the cold is going east, and the GEM hangs on for just another couple days for our dose of hopium, before it falls back in line.

Would take one order of the 00z GEM to go. Chilly and dry throughout with hints at retrogression in the long range.

Whatever happens or doesn't happen this winter, we will always have this fantasy GFS extended run.

It wasn’t bad at all actually. Cold within 12 days and snow at the end. Obviously sooner would be good but that ship sailed.
