Dry and ridgy the rest of the month before models show a historic arctic outbreak for early Feb.Catnip wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:48 am It has been a crappy winter thus far, however a couple good things right now.
1) ensembles are showing some possibilities as head toward FEB. Perhaps some dry/cool weather as we get brushed by the arctic airmass to our East, and then things shift west and we turn colder.
2) #FEB has a decent track record of delivering some winter weather. We have #climo on our side!
OR maybe we’ll get more &@#% drizzle.
I'll believe it when I see it.Catnip wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:48 am It has been a crappy winter thus far, however a couple good things right now.

I don’t even think a truly cold spring is doable anymore. Otherwise, probably accurate.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:11 am Dry and ridgy the rest of the month before models show a historic arctic outbreak for early Feb.
Models bust again we see more ridging until mid-late Feb before the GOA vortex brings some much needed mild rain.
More ridging in early March with some +14C days followed by a chilly zonal flow.
We finally get hit with a polar airmass by late March and early April where we finally see our first wet snowfall during some nights which don't accumulate.
April, May and early June will be cool and wet before our usual drought along with forest fire activity leads to hot and smokey weather through October.
Moderate El Nino means very mild and wet November, December and January before we see a ridgy mild Feb and March in 2026.
Our climate finally sees a cold and snowy January in 2058 when Yellowstone finally erupts sending us into a volcanic winter.
I hear ya Mr. Goose.

Maybe that’s the ticket. We need a record breaking dry January. Then the following year we’ll get record cold.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 5:40 pm Top 10 driest Januaries at YVR [rain only].
