06GFS says keep an eye on that Low sliding in from the NW ~Jan 2. It could be a snowmaker. Only 13 days away!! :14clown: :14clown:
And here it is..December 2024 all snow geeks have been waiting for :silent: ..with the LR weather "charts" calling for a cold and snowy month. Where's the troffing? :silent: :silent:

Euro is similar except heigher heights over the West Coast. Looks like we are going back into a ridgy cycle again to start off Jan.

It's incredibly hard to shake off this pattern.

Still too much energy in the Pacific. That ridge will only amplify over the West Coast.

Want snow? I guess we all need to move to Halifax.
3:41 PM AST Friday 20 December 2024

Snowfall Warning in effect for:
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Total snowfall: 20 to 30 cm.

Locations: Atlantic coast counties and eastern Nova Scotia.

Time span: This evening and persisting into Saturday afternoon.

Remarks: The snow will change to ice pellets or rain Saturday morning for eastern areas of the province, reducing snowfall amounts.

Gusty northeast then northwest winds accompanying the snow may cause reduced visibility at times in blowing snow.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NSstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #NSStorm.

Ridge will retrograde in late Jan for a chance at some real cold.

Early-mid Jan will be relatively dry and seasonal/cool.

Agreed. The second half of January has legit potential for an arctic blast in the PNW if the pattern successfully retrogrades.

The GFS continues to try and expedite the potential retrogression next month. But I still think it's rushing it. Best chance is the second half of January.

I want to go back to the 50's and 60's...

#January 1950
#March 1951
#January 1954
#December 1956
#January 1957
#October 1962
#December 1964
#December 1965
#January 1966
#December 1968
#January 1969

In my opinion, all those analogs produced more extreme and fun winter events than anything the 2000's have so far. :x :bang:
