EC has issued a fog advisory. The visibility is near zero here in east Coquitlam.
4:58 PM PST Monday 2 December 2024

Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring.

Where:
- Metro Vancouver
- Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford.

When: Now to tomorrow morning.

Remark: Ridge of high pressure which is anchoring over southern B.C. will provide a conducive environment for dense fog formation. Dense fog is expected to lift by tomorrow late morning.

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

The 00Z GEM continues to show a major AR on Friday through Saturday morning. It looks close to a Pineapple Express as the moisture source is around the northern tip of Hawaii. It also appears to be taking a track favourable for the higher rain totals to extend into the Fraser Valley.

For some reason I have a feeling that if we don't score an arctic blast in mid to late December, we will get one in early to mid January. :silent:

Active pattern mid-late Dec lasting into early Jan. Another round of AR's and windstorms.

Ridging then retrogression leading to the hammer dropping by late Jan into Feb.

Min of -0.3˚C here. Foggy, but it’s shallow enough to be bluish overhead. Looks like a sunny afternoon might be on tap.

12Z GFS brings back ridging in the LR. This winter is mirroring 2015-16 so far.
