:alert:
4:58 AM PST Saturday 16 November 2024
Special Weather Statement in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster

Heavy rain and strong winds are expected.

Where: Howe Sound and Metro Vancouver.

When: Today and this evening.

Hazard / Impacts:
-Localized water pooling on roads and reduced visibilities in heavy rain.
-High winds may cause tree branches to break and lead to power outages.

Remarks:
A Pacific frontal system will arrive today, bringing periods of heavy rain and strong winds to the south coast. Over Howe Sound and Metro Vancouver, light rain will start this morning and become heavier near noon.

As precipitation intensity increases, snow levels could lower to near 150 metres this afternoon resulting in heavy rain becoming mixed with wet snow over higher terrain. Please be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Total rainfall amounts of up to 40 mm are expected before the heavy rain tapers off to a few showers overnight.

Strong southeast winds gusting to 70 km/h will develop over areas near Strait of Georgia and Boundary Bay this afternoon and then ease tonight.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

As it stands, parts of Oregon and Cali could see a lot of rain in the next week as they look to take the brunt of the ARs.

Euro still looks decent for a warning shot early next week.

Not posting the temp/DP maps this time but this does check out.
