You know it's fall here when: Junko's have returned to the yard from their mountain summer migration. Spider webs everywhere. Nasty big spider find a way into your house! Mosquitoes are still active. I got bit this evening.

Those big orange spiders are called Orb spiders the more you see the colder and snowier the winter Houndy.
We reached a comfortable high of 23c @ the pond in south Sardis today.
The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

Slowly morphing into A.I. Canada which means completely automated no more records available on line.
Probably some kind of pay service to look up records another money grab.

That’s when the Coq was damaged and we had to take the hopeless-Princeton as that Arctic front was bearing down. It performed beautifully with all the fandangled traction technology. Any snowfall I always test my vehicle’s limits on a quiet street. With the van I can’t have a bit of fun in a parking lot.

I will say this, however: even with winters on, I find salting on the Coq & Connector to be dangerous. The salting is uneven, and it creates slush on part of the highway. Slush, especially on part of the highway yanks the vehicle. Had some close calls even with winters on the van. Driving when the highway is an entire glazed ice rink is safer as the highway surface is uniform.
l absolutely enjoy the adventures with Mattmobile the stories turn out positive.  :D

The forecasts seem to be getting worse. Yesterday the forecast for the next few days looked nice, now it's stripped away. How can 12 hours make such a big difference? Slop.

Oh, man do I have stories. There’s been a couple white-knuckle experiences where I thought we would bite it.

And with three kids and a wife that gets carsick easy, many of these high mountain adventures involve the violent expulsion of gastric material. The Coldwater exit on the Coqu in now known by our family as the “Golden Turd” exit. Last Thanksgiving on the drive to Kelowna, we had just passed the last exit with a bathroom when my son said he had to go. We pulled off on the Coldwater exit where he laid this massive cable. He was so proud. Probably TMI, but such mountain adventures are memorable.

I concur completely, the winter conditions (even on the better days) on the Coq can still be quite dangerous due to the uneven portions of snow/ice packed sections. Some of them can be several inches thick, and taking them at high speed can be dangerous, even with good tires. Best to take it slow, and get a wheel alignment when you're back lol!

Shades of the late September 2019 "cold" snap -- that was followed up by a more impressive airmass a week later in early October with the earliest freeze recorded at YVR in many years.

I can remember that mini early blast Tman of course the famous words from E l Pineapple 🍍 that the air dries out before moisture arrives was true for once. But l remember seeing the first snows on the peaks around Chilliwack it was exciting indeed it wasn't much but just an early reminder that winter was close at hand.

Has this been E l Pineapple 🍍 rejected this looks like the A.I. model gone wild. We reached a high of 20c @ the fish pond in south Sardis.

 l can concour Matthead my son was also a projectile car rider at an early age. This one time we were headed up to Barkerville way back in 2001 and we had to pull over near Clinton. It looked like an entrance to someone's cattle ranch, l had to exit the vehicle from getting over the well let's just say odour.
Luckily my mom was along for the vacation and between her and my wife had the vehicle back in somewhat normal conditions again for the long journey north.
