In all fairness, I think we can all agree that the models have been struggling in the long range, so nothing is set in stone. That includes the depressing outlook so far. That said, I wouldn't bet any money on it.

Oh ya , definitely remember that one ,lot's of snow on the ground. I checked the stats for YVR for Jan '79. Looks like I was wrong; Jan 10th, 1979 shows 17.4mm of rain with temps between 0.1C and 2.2C. Just a lot of cold rain for western sections of Vancouver. Further east though (Surrey/Pitt Meadows into the valley), it looks like it was pretty significant ice storm. -0.3C/-2.9C in Abbotsford with 15.6mm of ice.
