It was a serious question
Btw I believe that co2 influences our climate I just hate how
It’s politicized and don’t believe in many of the solutions being introduced

Re: December 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
It would seem as though the atmosphere does couple with those warm anomalies at least to some degree. I haven’t seen anything to suggest there isn’t some type of feedback especially once those anomalies get cranking in the +3 degree or more range.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:21 pm No kidding. A lot of local researchers stated climate change would significantly impact the Pac NW/Coastal Canada. One major concern was a shrinking Mountain snowpack towards the 2020s...and a guest lead climate researcher spoke to our class in 2006 warned of this...His belief is that polar melt would shift SST departures in poles and ocean currents leading to a "wavering jet"/ unorganized jetstream.
No surprise the displacement of arctic sea ice melt has resulted in "the blob" off the coast. Do you think +SST departures off the coast are leading to this stagnant splitty jet?
I suspect it is a big influencer and explains why the West Coast is not seeing the variability in patterns that it once saw.

Looks like it's gonna be one of those winters...it's shaping up remarkably similar to '13-14 or '14-15 so far. I'm fairly certain the PNW will reap the rewards with regards to arctic air at some point...lets just hope we don't see a repeat of January 2014 or 2015.

Re: December 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
John, Ice would normally escape the arctic and melt in the Pacific south of Berring Straight. If this doesn't happen any more than it won't be colder than it was in the past.
The arctic region is much warmer with liquid water than covered freezing ice? Also ice and snow reflect sunlight. Water is dark and absorbs sunlight.

Re: December 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Keep in mind T3 it is only Dec 4th and things could look far better in a week or 2, if it were Jan 4th and still looking like this then worry. Enjoy the Christmas season T3.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:38 pm Looks like it's gonna be one of those winters...it's shaping up remarkably similar to '13-14 or '14-15 so far. Re: December 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Arctic ice melt feeds into ocean currents but this water being cold in nature subsidies. Warm bodies of water see a slight molecular shift and become "lighter" per say. This why SST are warming horizontally across the globe...This feeds to the debate of the blob being a death zone for biodiversity since this warm body of water is not conducive to retaining nutrients as efficiently as cold water.
