Last night's extended GEFS has a similar idea.

Re: June 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
I personally cheer more for the Winter solstice over the Summer one I do love season changes though, but I'm sad about days getting shorter now. Bring on the Snow storms and rain forks!

Re: June 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
So this could be yet more chilly troffing..bringing high elevation snows into the Similkameeeens peaks into July . This happened a few years ago..dont remember..maybe 2018 or so, around July 4-8 or thereabouts. Crazy...peaks were snowcapped at 1500-1600+m with about 2-4" of snow iirc. Are we going there again?
And here it is..December 2024 all snow geeks have been waiting for ..with the LR weather "charts" calling for a cold and snowy month. Where's the troffing?

I'm with you, Winter Solstice is my favourite, it's the beginning of good things, light, warmer and longer days.stuffradio wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 11:38 am I personally cheer more for the Winter solstice over the Summer one I do love season changes though, but I'm sad about days getting shorter now. Summer Solstice on the other hand, is the start of the heat and then the slow slide into cold, wet long nights.

Re: June 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
It looks like we will slide into early July without one significant heat event so far this year with repeated troffing keeping the big Ridge away

Re: June 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
How could anyone complain about this? This is actually a beautiful, normal West Coast summer before all the insane heat domes and heat waves.
The average temperature this time of year is 20°C.
Want the heat? Move east

Re: June 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
It's been only three years since the deadliest weather event in Canadian history (600+ human deaths, untold animals and ecosystem death) scorched the PNW. The day after an entire town burned down, the beautiful and historical Lytton. Then we sucked on noxious and continuous smoke fumes which gives people horrible health problems including people here on this forum.Weather101 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 2:14 pm How could anyone complain about this? And despite all that, you'll see people wishcasting that exact weather again. Never fails to boggle my mind.
Every few years we still manage to eke out a half decent, average stretch of summer weather and people act like its the Day After Tomorrow. After this few days of beautiful sunshine I can't wait for a bit of rain! Going to be so refreshing.

Re: June 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
July will heat up as it always does. And August too. Summer goes to September 1st (in reality more like sep 15) so tons of time left!
Not to mention these last few days have been really nice.

Hey Matt, nice photoMattman wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 6:56 am Certainly isn’t a good pic, but Pennask summit at about noon yesterday. This was minutes before my son heaved his Cheerios. (A barf bowl is one of the first items I pack for travels, so the van remains unsoiled). I’ll post pics here and on the AF later this evening of our trek through the Rockies today.
Try a grounding strap (from your van to the road) to help with the kids' road sickness
