March 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
We're almost 1/4 of the way through the year already! Will March come in like a Lion? Will we see some epic snows this month, or will we be getting epic allergens everywhere. Let's find out

Re: March 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
Major ridging ends the snow parade and likely any more winter mid month:
. For me it’s the best time to ridge, but I just hope this snow bump is enough to at least keep drought concerns at bay until summer. It’s going to get rough at some point..an early hot spell would be fairly disastrous.

Re: March 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
It's incredibly disappointing to see the models completely cut down on the snowfall amounts in the alpine areas during this period. From 150+cm to maybe 40-60cm the next week... but it keeps trending drier each run.PortKells wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 9:36 pm Major ridging ends the snow parade and likely any more winter mid month:

Nothing for Central or Northern BC too.

Re: March 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
To be fair I thought part of that was what has already fallen? Like Sasquatch for example is reporting 160 cm over the the last 72 hours. Manning got 70 or so. With several more decent sized snowfalls coming.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 9:49 pm It's incredibly disappointing to see the models completely cut down on the snowfall amounts in the alpine areas during this period. I’m confused about the first post: how are we almost 1/4 through the year? We’re still a full month away from that

This is true Dude but it's just a ball park figure.
It's also 10 months till Christmas. We reached a high of 7c @ the pond in south Sardis.

Some showers of slushy rain overnight. Models were saying snow but I knew better than to believe such lies.
It's called clown range for a reason.

After experiencing many snowy winters in a row locally, we all understand why you sold the home in Bellingham.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 5:56 am Some showers of slushy rain overnight. Models were saying snow but I knew better than to believe such lies.

Re: March 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
On the plus side, I was expecting to struggle to reach so much as the 30 cm mark last season, and got that much in a single snowfall. So it wasn’t a total loss.

Re: March 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
Local mountains got screwed. Would estimate there was 25cm of compacted new snow on Grouse.
Hopefully more falls today.

Re: March 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
March is the one month where it is easier for Tofino to score than Vancouver.
Because it is March and I live in Vancouver, not Tofino.
It's called clown range for a reason.
