It sounds like it did a number on the grape crop for the upcoming season though:

https://vancouversun.com/business/local ... -cold-snap

"B.C. wine crop facing 'catastrophic losses' after extreme January cold snap

Industry faces a drop of 97 to 99 per cent in grape and wine production, costing almost $450 million in lost revenue to vineyards, wineries and suppliers"

The Euro map has a pretty pronounced terrain bleed up to right about the Fraser, especially in Western Metro. Tsawwassen area might be more representative of the actual populated metro region even NOTF.

I took a "shortcut" from Chasm to Savona via the deadman valley. Backroads all the way. In a Jetta that can scape bottom on some speedbumps. A few times I thought for sure I'd have to hike 2 or 3 hours in the dark for help. Somehow made it. And one road wasn't plowed! and it had a creek across so had to gun it through the creek while driving through 6 to 10 inches of snow. And the rocks, wow, I stopped at least 10 times to clear them off the road. Boulders almost.

Any part of the road in the sun was mud. I almost got stuck several times. At one point I drove down a steep hill of mud and then I had to go up a steep hill of mud, I thought I was going to be stuck hours from anyone at that point, but I spun those wheels hard up the other side, and barely made it!

Difference is that it's almost March. 2 months makes a huge difference.

I regret not taking pics and videos until I was past the bad part!

The unplowed part was crazy. I don't know how I made it through the snow! It was only 1 km long though. I should have taken a video of this part.

There was also a lot more cold trapped at the surface in January not to mention we had a fresh reload of cold come in from the North.

This setup could produce a low elevation snowfall if the moisture moves in during the evening and overnight hours but it will be a lot more marginal than the one back in mid January. Still, this is by far not an El Niño pattern so we are lucking out here. :flakey:
