Can you imagine new lurkers coming on here and reading all this pineapple talk? They must think we are weirdos that worship tropical fruit.

Abbotsford had one of its largest daily snowfall totals in recorded history on Wednesday (Jan. 17).
Environment Canada shared that a total of 29.2 centimetres of snow dropped in the Abbotsford area on Wednesday. That amount ties it for the 11th-largest daily snowfall total since records were kept in 1935.
According to the Extreme Weather Watch website, that total is equal to Jan. 2, 1965 and Jan. 7, 1991. It also established a new daily record for Jan. 17. That mark was previously set in 1970 when 7.4 cm fell.
The largest daily snowfall was 49.8 cm, which was recorded on Jan. 21, 1954. Second place is 44.1 cm on Nov. 26, 2006 and third was 43.8 cm on Dec. 30, 1990.
Wednesday was the most snowfall in one day since Dec. 2, 2007 when 30.2 cm fell.
The top ten recorded snowfall days include:
1. 49.8 cm Jan. 21, 1954
2. 44.1 cm Nov. 26, 2006
3. 43.8 cm Dec. 30, 1990
4. 33.0 cm March 6, 1951
5. 31.8 cm Nov. 30, 1975
6. 31.8 cm Dec. 21, 1951
7. 31.8 cm Dec. 26, 1938
8. 30.5 cm Jan. 16, 1962
9. 30.5 cm March 5, 1951
10. 30.2 cm Dec. 2, 2007

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
Yes we have had a good spell of 30 plus cms on the ground at least once for the past 3 winters that we have lived here. I’ve lived in the wack my whole life and can see a huge difference being on the hillside. The biggest reason is when the outflow hits the valley we usually don’t see much wind so the snow really piles up.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:19 pm Nice your elevated area 9km's east of the pond always does well East Whack man. I enjoy your winter photos the last 3 winters now. l'd have to check the last 2 winter's but you usually have at least 10cm's more than the valley floor during heavy events.
Eastern hillsides chilliwack.

With 36.2 cm of snow this month, Vancouver YVR is experiencing its snowiest January since 2002 (36.9 cm) and the 11th since records began in 1938. With a strong El Niño!
In addition, we are now above the 1991-2020 winter average (34.1 cm)!

Does anyone by any chance have a copy of the snowfall warning issued for the Fraser Valley leading up to the November 2006 snowstorm?

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
These are the day's following a big weather event that's no fun.
It's over the Arctic air has retreated the melt is on there's no big weather event on the horizon at the moment.
Best time to focus on something else to keep from getting to down. IMO
