Haha yeah. Luckily, I was working tower at the time and not ground control. Ground controller had a heck of time rerouting planes around the mess.

I snickered internally as I saw him working away beside me. Little did he know, it was a sacrifice for the incoming snow. :silent:

Looking ahead, I really think EC is OTL with a low of 1 Wednesday night then a high of 5 on Thursday LOL. Probably 3-4 degrees too warm for both. With that much snow and fresh outflow, there's no way it stays at +1 Wednesday night after skies clear.

Is this going to be a midnight special or will it happen earlier? 🤞

Mesoscale models look to start things around midnight local time.

At this point I would forecast 10 cm for western sections and lower elevations, 15 for most of metro Vancouver, and 20 cm for eastern sections into the FV

There is a high risk of sleet, especially at the start, which will eat into totals. I even wonder if I should subtract 5 cm from each of those forecasts

I think the best part is, regardless of when it starts, there will be snow falling for an appreciable number of daylight hours, so we'll finally get a daytime snowstorm.

So many of our snowstorms lately have started in earnest around or after dinnertime and then ended by breakfast.

Thank you to all for the explanations last night about my old stomping grounds Pitt Meadows. Hopefully my new location will bring better snow totals!! Looking forward to posts today explaining what we can expect the next few days. Always rely on you guys for this. Although I love weather, I'm not the greatest at figuring out what will happen. All I know is that it's usually the opposite of what EC forecasts
