Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
It’s funny, a couple of my coworkers think I’m some pro weather dude and I play it up but I’m not even in the same universe as some people on here let alone an actual meteorologist. I’m a joe blow with colourful weather maps.
The problem is people have lost faith in EC so if you get something right and they’re wrong you look like a genius. But I’d rather the actual experts look like the experts lmao.
Hopefully EC upgrades this thing ASAP. The fact is people are going to bed thinking “oh no snowfall warning it’s all goodâ€. Well it’s not.

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
Perhaps Hawk theory has some truth to it.
Looking at terrain, it still doesn't make sense.
The cooler air might be riding the Fraser River Westbound? Lifting up over Surrey? Cutting off Pitt Meadows? Creating some type of sucking force to bring warm air east up the Fraser from Richmond into Pitt Meadows?

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
Here's my 2 cents...main winds are coming east to west in those events, secondary wind coming down Pitt Lake (relatively warmer waterbody I'm guessing), creating a Venturi effect and a localized inversion??? I dunno...just throwing something out there?

99% of the people I talk to only use Apple Weather and are baffled when I laugh and tell them about ECPortKells wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 8:41 pm It’s funny, a couple of my coworkers think I’m some pro weather dude and I play it up but I’m not even in the same universe as some people on here let alone an actual meteorologist. Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
People don't even take the snowfall warnings seriously anyways. This generation doesn't go on EC they check the phone weather app and still go out on the roads. lol, they don't care.PortKells wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 8:41 pm It’s funny, a couple of my coworkers think I’m some pro weather dude and I play it up but I’m not even in the same universe as some people on here let alone an actual meteorologist.
