Yes! yes- no unsanctioned mirth. It's difficult to tax kids for having fun, so prohibit it. What a bunch of crap!

It’s actually verified a little more impressively than I pictured especially given the pretty minimal snow cover most areas.
Calculated over the coldest three-day average of any cold snap, so for now it's looking in the cat 3 to cat 4 range. Will have to see how tonight's lows and tomorrow's highs pan out at YVR. We already blew past the EC forecasted high so might end up as a cat 3.

How does the December 2008 arctic blast rate on your scale? While it was long duration and snowy, it wasn't exceptionally cold.

Bubble wrap BS. I remember Christmas break ‘88 getting the wind knocked out of me twice in one sledding outing on city property in Kelowna. It wasn’t fun without risk of injury. Come to think of it, it was Dec ‘90 when that second surge of Arctic air barrelled through right after Christmas that I broke my elbow and suffered a concussion from a sledding outing that evening. Came out of the hospital with my dad to a near blizzard. No regrets. Kids need such risk.

Coldest three-day average at YVR was Dec 18/19/20... high/low of -3.8c/-11.6c = Cat 3 cold snap.

The amount of government and political authoritarianism in this country these days is ridiculous. Let the parents protect their own children.

Kids are not even allowed to have fun outside anymore!

Offtopic but Man, I'm just thinking back to some of those playgrounds we used to play on when we were younger.

Remember these bad boys:

Wanna bet it was some people who bitched and complained to the city ? There's people literally calling the police on kids playing basketball or hockey in the park.... FOR NO REASON.

I had someone do the same to me as a 7 year old kid.
