Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
I notice a few of the Valley stations are already within a degree or two of their forecasted lows.
I wonder if we’ll see some areas exceed them.

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
We shall see. EC did issue a snow warning for the region of Duncan to Nanaimo. Maybe,we can catch a bit of that. Having said that, In the 33 years I've lived in the Nanoose/Parksville area, it is not unusual for the snow to end at Lantzville, just north of Woodgrove mall. The night is young and full of surprises, so...Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 10:14 pm Euro says Michael in Nanoose gets skunked tonight.

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
January 1935 was even more extreme than December 1996 for snowfall in some places, and most certainly with the insane amount of freezing rain and rain that followed caused by an AR.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 9:04 pm It was sure a very unique yet epic setup. Very rare to see an Atmospheric River collide with such a deep arctic airmass around here.
A similar scenario tried to unfold last winter at the end of our December arctic blast. Unfortunately, the airmass wasn't as cold as 1996 and therefore, most of the precipitation fell as ice pellets and freezing rain. Would be awesome to see 1996 repeat. Probably will eventually.![]()
