I thought -10 at Yvr was the big one?

A January 1996 redux would probably break the curse based on your criteria.

Like Storm man was saying. This is Monday morning. Temps marginally support snow down to sea level, but if you have any elevation at all, this is snow.

The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

Nope, I'm referring to a cold January from a monthly average perspective.

YVR has not seen one <0c since 1993... even if we raise it to <1c, still have to go back to 1993.

Ah. From my perspective that's not a slump or a curse, its just a new climate that doesn't behave that way anymore. Recently you'd be hard to find many months that ended up below average, let alone below 0C. I'm sure it could still happen but I'm not holding out hope for it.

Probably not good enough for a snow day on the first day back in school but a man can dream.

It's most definitely the result of a climate shift, but the unfortunate point still stands -- over 30 years since our last cold January.

I'll make a post later of the coldest months recorded at YVR since 1993.

An arctic blast is possible this month but by no means a guarantee based on the ensembles.
