Re: August 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
So far it's pretty much a dud. A few lightning bolts, a bit of thunder, nothing even that loud. A quick downpour that lasted 3 minutes. Lame. Even when things look good for us as usual we get screwed. Where is the rain we were promised? Radar is skimpy as well.

It's so sad that this is what's considered a thunderstorm out here...Hound wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 6:35 am So far it's pretty much a dud. I have a 35-minute video that I'll cut down of insane lighting I caught in Toronto last month. I'll post it so you guys can just see the difference and enjoy.
We always get screwed here in Vancouver for storms like this..

1. I love how he's walking almost under a tree in the middle of a lightning storm
2. In no way do I think this is the best storm we received in over 20 years.

Re: August 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
In other words, a typical Wet Coast “thunderstorm.†I have only seen a really good thunderstorm perhaps six to ten times in the roughly 30 years I have lived on the West Coast. Most recently being 2019 in Bellingham.Weather101 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 6:41 am It's so sad that this is what's considered a thunderstorm out here...

This time, most of the action seems to have gone well east of the city. I think Catnip got a good show out of it.
If getting good thunderstorm action is important, one must .
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: August 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
I think my perspective has just been changed at the storms I've witnessed in Toronto. A thunderstorm out there with no warnings will prompt a severe thunderstorm warning out here easily.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 7:00 am In other words, a typical Wet Coast “thunderstorm.†I have only seen a really good thunderstorm perhaps six to ten times in the roughly 30 years I have lived on the West Coast. Re: August 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
I guess I had a better view. For a west coast thunderstorm it wasn't bad at all here.

Up to 3.6 mm for the day in continuing showers.
