To be fair, I could say the same thing to you. We ALL know climate change is real. The debate is whether to not it's an emergency and driven primarily by humans.

To be honest, your response to my post was way over the top and came across to me as being unnecessarily rude. If you don't like what I have to say, then just ignore my post. To accuse me of low-key gaslighting because I shared an opinion different than yours is quite disrespectful and ridiculous.
This took me 2 seconds

I’m all for off topic posts and debate when there is nothing going on, but we have a provincial emergency unfolding. Let’s take the back and forth to PMs, the climate change thread or use the ignore function.

I don’t want to start moving or deleting posts, but if it begins to escalate, we’ll kind of have no choice.

I mean climate change does tie into this.

But definitely I agree!

On to weather and the fires

We're two weeks away from the start of meteorological Fall. I heard the press conference and it's crazy how they described it as fighting 100 years of fires in one night. Happy to hear no reports of deaths so far and I hope and pray we can keep it this way.

Title: Kelowna landfill has caught fire, while UBCO and Quail Ridge evacuate
Author: Nicholas Johansen
Date: August 18th, 2023 at 1:00 PM
Source: https://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/4 ... e-evacuate
UPDATE 1 p.m.

The Kelowna landfill is now on fire, while UBC Okanagan and Quail Ridge are evacuating.

An employee of the landfill told Castanet that flames swept in quickly Friday and the fire is moving in the direction of Quail Ridge.

The fast-moving flames have prompted an evacuation of the landfill, the employee said. He said he had tried to fight the flames as best he could before being forced to flee.

As a result of the nearby fire, UBC Okanagan has sent an alert out advising people to evacuate the campus. Additionally, the Emergency Operations Centre has expanded its evacuation order to the Quail Ridge area.

A detailed map of all evacuations can be found here.

The landfill employee said the landfill has a large amount of organic waste stored there, which he said will go up quickly. There is also a Fortis gas main that landfill staff are concerned about.

Kelowna city officials confirmed they know about a fire at the landfill but could not give details about its size at this time.

With strong winds fanning the flames in the the area, the employee said the fire landfill is growing quickly.

This gives a better idea of the scale of what they are dealing with.

This may go down as one of the most devastating fires in the history book.

Awful.

And this is exactly 20 years after the OK Mountain Fire.
