Not anymore. That is now totally normal and expected and what a heatwave means now.

If we see 40 again this year, I will never deny climate change.
Ok I believe in it already lol
But doubt those temps will be close

Re: August 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
If we ever get another cool/average (long term average) summer I'm going to look at it like I look at last winter, a very rare glimpse at what our climate used to be.

Re: August 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Today's GFS looks good for rain and for less extreme heat.

Don't forget, Squamish hit 40 degrees less than two months after that. I believe the lower mainland capped out in the upper 38-39 range in the August edition.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 12:16 pm That's what we laughed at in June 2021 John. Re: August 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
For those concerned about the potential for extreme heat mid month, it’s not time to panic yet. Models are still undecided.
The Euro has backed off significantly the past few runs as it develops and keeps the ridge further west offshore. Much cooler solution.
The past couple GEM runs develop a heat dome right over BC. Very hot solution.
The GFS is different every run.
Based on historical accuracy, the Euro is favoured and therefore, if the current trend continues, we may get lucky and avoid a major heatwave. But it’s still too soon to say for sure.
