I must've missed it earlier. He was a genius, and apparently a perfectionist after watching a documentary recently, the song arrangements had to be perfect in his eyes before he would release the songs. What I didn't know until I read the cbc article, was that his first wife was the one who was involved with John Belushi's drug overdose.

I'm not sure if he recorded them after Simon & Garfunkle had a hit with sound of silence and The Animals did the house of the rising sun,
