I guess trade deadline day was a non event not just for canucks but the whole league, which was predictable due to all the wheeling and dealing for the last couple of weeks.
I'd like to see this Hronek guy performs, looking at highlights he looks pretty good. I understand the fans frustration, including myself, but the problem with a full rebuild is that Hughes and Pettersson don't want to wait, they want meaningful games now while they're in their prime,or they might walk in a few years. Management seems to be between a rock and a hard place. Because Aquillinis didn't listen to Linden ,and Benning's bumblings and bunglings ,there are no easy answers. Our best hope right now is finishing bottom 5 and/or winning the Bedard sweepstakes.
Now that we no longer have Islanders 1st rounder draft pick...GO ISLANDERS GO!!
I'll probably be pissed for a few weeks and then get over it eventually. I personally don't care what petterson and hughes think. Don't get me wrong they are fantastic players and none of this is their fault but they will be long gone when the decisions made here will still be impacting the franchise and us fans will be watching 20 + years of mediocrity. If they were reasonable then you could convince them that our winning window will open up in two years when the draft picks come to fruition, the myers/pearson/Boeser contracts run up and cap space becomes abundant, etc.
If they don't want to stick around you get a huge haul in return for them. Not ideal but its a way forward.
Not to mention, if you want to win now and buy players, the trade deadline is the most expensive time to do that. Do it at the draft when draft picks are worth the most. We always make incredibly obviously foolish decisions like that. It's so frustrating as a fan, I've been more than patient for 10 years and suddenly something broke with this trade for me. Like I say, I and many will get over it soon enough but I'm not even close to there yet.

That's because miller and demko are inconveniently all stars again.
I’m all aboard team tank as long as they are putting in good effort every game. What I mean by that is to put good effort in but still end up losing games. Every team should always do their best to win but we also want a good draft pick. Unless of course management trades another one of picks for a “win now†player.

Bad timing indeed where was this in December when we weren't 100 points out.
However l'am enjoying watching the Flame outs slide.
There sure throwing Marky under the bus in cow Town sound familiar, perhaps they should remember who they lost all that point production Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

Unfortunately our lineup is realistically too good to keep losing. The only thing that kept us losing was Martin and Delia.

Yeah, they'll probably blow it and pass Montreal, Philly, St Louis, and end up drafting 9th , especially with 8games left against Anaheim, Chicago, Arizona, Sharks. All the top centers will be taken by then, only wingers left, and just their luck there's no high ranked defenceman.
Maybe they can land BC product Jake Livingstone, the best available ufa college defenceman.

That stings skipper but sounds like a Knuckle move alright.

Canucks will now run the table and finish with 95pts and finish 1 point out of the playoffs
Was hoping they'd shut down Dumbo for the season like they did with Mikelob and run with Delilah and Martini in net Skipper.

This is the problem with the short sighted win now strategy ownership continues to insist upon. The team ends up too good to get a high draft pick but not good enough to make or compete in the playoffs. Until ownership either sells or abandons this strategy and hires a management team with a vision of rebuilding properly, this team will remain mediocre and have little to no playoff success. It's frustrating but it is what it is.
A bright spot in one of the worst seasons l can remember since the 70's.
