Nice to put the Leafs in their place tonight. Ekholm was so good defensively. Great pickup.

Yeah I was just starting to feel a little bit more invested again. My frustration as a fan is shared throughout the city today, people are seething. It's become far too unfun to continue investing in this trash.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 6:51 pm This is insane l can't believe they threw these picks away this management absolutely sucks.

I don't care about the past, it's too painful to realize we will literally never achieve success again at this rate.

Maybe in the year 2525 , if sardineman is still alive.
I'll reserve final judgement until the deadline buzzer, see if they pull a sardine and 3 extra centimeters,I mean draft picks, out of a hat.

Re: Sports Talk
Just when I was starting to think this team was headed in the right direction, the Canucks go out and trade their 1st and 2nd round picks for a "win now" player. Seriously, what is this management group doing? They are a bottom 6 team, nowhere near contending, and in a major cap disaster. Despite all that, they go out and trade their draft picks for a player that will need to be resigned after next season and will only serve to help them in the short term when they aren't ready to compete. Its ridiculous.
The problem has to be with ownership. There's no other reasonable explanation I can think of that would explain the constant short sighted decisions being made by this franchise. What a joke.

Re: Sports Talk
Jr, unfortunately stuff like this just epitomizes how the Canucks typically roll. For people who've followed the team their whole lives, or even since when the team entered the league, we know upper management decisions like this (or just generally, the curse) are the rule, and not the exception. The biggest exception was the five-year period roughly between 2007 and 2012. And even then, the end result was still utter failure.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 3:14 pm Just when I was starting to think this team was headed in the right direction, the Canucks go out and trade their 1st and 2nd round picks for a "win now" player. People say it's the anticipation that kills you but for people who've grown up with the Canucks or followed the team for a long while, anticipation is something that is a flash in the pan; it's just apathy 90% of the time. I always say the first season in the league is a great representation overall of the Canucks ever since. Back then, results were great until December but it turned out to be just a small sparkle as the team tanked for the rest of the season.

Re: Sports Talk
Still pissed. I'm literally so choked I want to see this team fail as a business and talk relocation. I want the misery the fans are being put through to extend to ownership. I mean, the city has largely tuned out but the rich diehards still go to games. They are next to tune out and then he has nothing. And I guarantee you that privileged child abusing born billionaire will start to hold the fans hostage by talking about greener pastures.
Don't capitulate. Let him move the team so we can get a new franchise and start fresh. This trade was the final straw, this team will NEVER win a cup or achieve sustained success.
The other plausible scenario is that aqua and his clan of bandits get caught up in some sort of criminal element. Well, more criminal than just the deaths of two migrant workers who were denied water breaks and appropriate breaks for farm work, but we all know that causing Poors to die won't lead to any consequences.
I have to believe that he has some sort of fraud our there that will lead to his downfall. And that day will be the first ever Canucks parade, the day that the aqualinis disappeared from our lives forever.

Re: Sports Talk
I guess trade deadline day was a non event not just for canucks but the whole league, which was predictable due to all the wheeling and dealing for the last couple of weeks.
I'd like to see this Hronek guy performs, looking at highlights he looks pretty good. I understand the fans frustration, including myself, but the problem with a full rebuild is that Hughes and Pettersson don't want to wait, they want meaningful games now while they're in their prime,or they might walk in a few years. Management seems to be between a rock and a hard place. Because Aquillinis didn't listen to Linden ,and Benning's bumblings and bunglings ,there are no easy answers. Our best hope right now is finishing bottom 5 and/or winning the Bedard sweepstakes.
Now that we no longer have Islanders 1st rounder draft pick...GO ISLANDERS GO!!
