A strong low approaching from the SW would need to move due NE thru the Olympic peninsula and over the northern Puget sound....that setup would keep NE winds at the surface with a strong moisture fetch from the SW. Once you see that on the models...a snowstorm is in the cards for the lower mainland.

Nope.

In 2006 we saw a low slide down the coast and stall just off the southern tip of Vancouver island just as an arctic front was pushing south out of the interior. Precip from the stalled low collided with the arctic front. This formed a convergence zone over the Lower Mainland and led to intense snowfall rates on the 26th and 27th...25-50cm of snow fell in a ~36hr period across the region.

Yes those snow rates were probably the most intense I've ever seen. 44 cm fell at YXX in 12 hours on top of the 10 cm that fell the night before. Sure was a fun storm. 8-)

November 2006 as a whole was a pretty fun and dynamic month. The first 2/3rds of the month featured near constant mild flooding rains. A short cool/wet period ensued before we were hit by that snowstorm and ensuing arctic blast to close out the month.

Hawk wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2019 6:25 am What kind of hens do you have Ms Creeker? :dunno:
Fancy heritage breeds, most don't lay that well but they're pretty and I ship hatching eggs to people in Canada who want them. I've attached pictures of a few of my breeds: Mille Fleur Belgian Bearded d'Uccke, Black Breda Fowl, rumpless Araucana (hens lay blue eggs) and Paint Silkie. There's so many amazing looking chickens out there, it's hard to choose.

That would be fun, thanks for the photo.

Add a winter avatar to show your support for TEAM SNOW! It's going to be epic.

When trying to add an avatar it MUST be 100 pixels x 100 pixels or it won't accept them. I remember there were some free sites to do that, maybe someone can post them or message me and I can do it.
