The end of Gretzky and Lemieux career it was just as hard to score as it is now. Actually I think it was harder to score because it's become easy the last couple years. Here is a graph I made a couple years ago. I need to update it to include the past couple of years.

Without looking it up I'm pretty sure Teemu Selanne racked up a mind blowing 76goals and 76assists for 152pts in his rookie year of 92/93. Can't see that record ever being broken....unless Bedard does it next year?..as a Canuck?......wake up,wake up!...uhh?...Where am I?Glacier wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:48 pm The best time to score goals was 1980 to 1984. I'm not happy with these come from behind Knuckle points and with the Ducks & Blackhawk wins were screwing our chances for a decent pick in the draft.

There's 2 take aways from the latest NHL standings l'm thoroughly enjoying the Calgary Lames doing a slow flame out from a wildcard spot and the Seattle Krackheads slow fall from first.

My son told me that Bedard has a cousin that is just as good, Gavin McKenna, 2026 draft eligible.

Re: Sports Talk
Wow what a disaster Bruins goalie scores a goal against the Kanhackers l remember the Sharks goalie Nabakov's goal against the Knucks back in 2000 or so what a joke.

I almost feel like the Oilers should wait to go all in until this summer. The way the East is loading up, it may be a foregone conclusion.

Re: Sports Talk
Man. If I was them I would trade my next 5 first rounders. You got the best player in the world playing like an absolute freak, you take that opportunity and try to go for the finals, where anything can happen.
I just see this as a missed opportunity for them. You can't assume this opportunity will keep happening with the way injuries and quick declines can go.
Trade Campbell + futures for Demko. Trade 1sts/prospects for Chychrun. Keep those guys for a couple years too...
Anyways I hope it doesn't happen and the Oilers flounder in the first round. But I could see them walking all over the weak teams in the west, nobody can stop Mcdavid these days.

Re: Sports Talk
I don't see much of a market for Campbell. Chychrun is okay, but not really the dman they need. He would help, but Ekholm would help them far more. They are totally inept at protecting leads. Hard to score your way to a Cup without adequate defense.PortKells wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 10:59 am Man. If I was them I would trade my next 5 first rounders. Re: Sports Talk
Unfortunately Campbell is a classic cap dump. Meaning you'd have to attach a 1st rounder or top prospect to get rid of him. But IMO you don't want to miss your cup window to preserve first rounders that won't help you for another 3 years when Drai and Mcdavid are older and maybe even signed somewhere else.
Canucks are rebuilding, and have cap space. Demko and Schenn for Campbell, 2 1sts, and a top prospect. You get your #1 goalie to carry you to the promised land, a good RHD for the playoffs and get rid of the team deflating Campbell.
Then again I fully believe in going all in if you have a cup team, and all in on rebuilding if you don't. Most GMs are caught somewhere in the middle.
